Celebrate Bowie's life and legacy on ABC

As saddening as it is saying goodbye to an icon and legend like David Bowie who influenced many of our lives in some way or another, it's heartening too to see tributes flow out from all corners of the globe in honour of the legacy he left behind.

To help Australians with our simultaneous mourning and celebration of Bowie's life, ABC have organised a week-long tribute to the master with a series of interviews, film clips and other treasures found in ABC's vast archives and broadcasted across multiple platforms.

ABC iview will feature a host of footage of Bowie's interviews and other appearances, available to watch on iview.abc.net.au, while Double J will play non-stop Bowie for 14 hours starting from today. Myf Warhurst will help with the programming, airing a best of Bowie playlist with archival content, live chats and listeners calling in to share their stories and memories of the legend. From 2pm today and tomorrow, Double J will also play Blackstar in full, released just a few days ago and noted by his producer to be Bowie's swansong and "final parting gift".

Tomorrow night on ABC2 at 9.15pm, you can catch documentary David Bowie: Five Years In The Making Of An Icon, painting a detailed portrait of the star's life with a myriad of previously unseen footage.

On Thursday, 14 January at 9pm, catch Bowie on Ricky Gervais' comedy Extras, showcasing the cheeky Bowie mocking Gervais as "the little fat man who sold his soul".

Finally, for six hours (from 10.55pm Friday night until 5am Saturday morning), Rage will focus on Bowie's many eclectic incarnations through his iconic music videos.
