Air date confirmed for series two
ABC TV today announced that it has commissioned a third series of local comedian Josh Thomas' sit-com Please Like Me.
Thomas enthused about the news, "I'm just thrilled ABC TV and Pivot [US cable network] are proceeding so confidently."
The announcement came ahead of the national network screening series two, a move described as "unprecedented" by ABC Head Of Comedy Rick Kalowski, who added, "[the early recommission] is fitting for a show which has become our most watched original ABC2 comedy series."
Indeed, the show, which received mixed reviews upon launch, has now won an AACTA Award for Best Comedy Series, an AWGIE (Aus Writers Guild) for Best Comedy Script and an Australian Director's Guild award for Best Direction In TV Comedy.

Please Like Me was also invited to screen as part of the Series Mania Television Festival in Paris. Kalowski described the international reaction to the show as putting "Australian TV comedy on the world stage as never before."
The ten-part second series of Please Like Me will screen 9.30pm Tuesdays on ABC2, beginning August 12.
