The first part of the highly anticipated fifth season of Stranger Things finally aired on Friday (28 November), and so did its accompanying soundtrack.
With the return of Kate Bush’s iconic Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God), the first four episodes of season five warmed up with something familiar while also welcoming new songs of the era—and before.
Set in 1987, it’s no surprise that Stranger Things features artists such as Michael Jackson (Rockin’ Robin), Diana Ross (Upside Down), ABBA (Fernando), Tiffany (I Think We’re Alone Now), and more.
Reacting to her feature in episode three, Tiffany wrote on social media, “Excited to hear my song ITWAN on @strangerthingstv ..my FAVORITE show !! What a thrill ..Great way to start my HOLIDAY.”
As only four episodes of the fifth season have been released, the rollout of the soundtrack accompanies the release of each volume.
Stranger Things: Soundtrack from the Netflix Series, Season 5, Volume 1, is now available on digital platforms. Volume 2 will debut on streaming services on Friday, 26 December, and the third and final volume, featuring tracks from the previous two volumes plus additional music, will be available on Thursday, 1 January.
