Tim MinchinTim Minchin and his series Upright have won a slew of awards at this year's AACTAs.
Minchin has claimed the award for Best Comedy Performer, beating the likes of Anne Edmonds for her At Home Alone Together performance, Rosehaven's Luke McGregor and Celia Pacquola, and fellow Upright star Milly Alcock.
The series, which which follows Laclan "Lucky" Flynn (Minchin) and Meg (Milly Alcock) who "forge the unlikeliest of bonds in their quest to get a precious piano from one side of the country to the other", has won the award for Best Comedy Series ahead of Rosehaven, Black Comedy, At Home Alone Together and The Other Guy.
Mystery Road has taken out Best Drama Series, Rebel Wilson scored Best Subscription Television Presenter for LOL: Last One Laughing Australia, and Have You Been Paying Attention? took out Best Entertainment Program.

Stateless was the night's big winner, taking out Best Telefeature or Mini Series, Best Lead Actor In A Television Drama for Fayassal Bazzi, Best Lead Actress In A Television Drama for Yvonne Strahovski, Best Guest Or Supporting Actor In A Television Drama for Darren Gilshenan, Best Guest Or Supporting Actress In A Television Drama for Cate Blanchett, Best Director In A Television Drama Or Comedy for Emma Freeman, Best Screenplay In Television, Best Cinematography In Television, Best Editing In Television, Best Sound In Television, Best Original Score In Television, Best Production Design In Television, and Best Costume Design In Television.

Amanda Brown (The Go-Betweens) took out the award for Best Original Score In A Documentary for Brazen Hussies in the previously announce industry awards.
It’s been a big year for Minchin, who has just landed at #3 on the ARIA Albums Chart (marking the highest Australian debut of the week) for his debut album, Apart Together. The album has also found international success too, coming in at #18 on the UK Albums Chart (just nine places down from Nick Cave’s Idiot Prayer: Nick Cave Alone At Alexandra Palace).
