Peter Allen Miniseries Scores Most TV Nominations For 2015 AACTA Awards

It smashed TV ratings expectations when it debuted on Australian screens last month and now the Peter Allen miniseries, Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door is set to receive even more acclaim after it garnered a whopping ten nominations at this year's Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards, the most of any TV production nominated. 

The show based on the iconic late singer's life, received nominations for Best Telefeature Or Mini Series, Best Direction In A Television Drama Or Comedy, Best Screenplay In Television, Best Editing In Television, Best Sound In Television, Best Production Design In Television and Best Costume Design In Television.

Meanwhile, the show's stars also received nods as Joel Jackson (who portrays Allen) was awarded a nomination for Best Lead Actor In A Television Drama, while Ky Baldwin was recognised for the Best Supporting Actor In A Television Drama category, as was Sigrid Thornton for Best Supporting Actress.

Over on the Aussie films list, newly-released drama The Dressmaker and arguably one of 2015's most popular films, Mad Max: Fury Road scooped up the most nominations, both being picked in the Best Film and Best Direction categories.
