DJ Max, aka Srđan Golubović has been identified as an alleged war criminal by Rolling Stone who was involved in the Bijeljina massacre of April of 1992.
The report names him as the subject of one of the most famous photographs from the Bosnian War.
The image was taken by Ron Haviv, an American photo journalist, which appears to show Golubović performing a kicking motion towards civilians who had been shot.
The report also found that the DJ was a part of Arkan's Tigers, a paramilitary group who are believed to have contributed to atrocities during the war. Only one member of the group, Arkan's Tigers have faced prosecution for their war crimes with one member convicted in Croatia.
The Bosnian War saw around 100,000 civilians killed and is one of the most bloody wars and genocides in history.
He has reportedly DJed since the 1990s contributing to Belgrade's underground dance scene as a part of trance collective Xperiment. He also hosted his own record label Ultra Groove Records.
He also had the privilege of performing at one of the biggest music festivals in Serbia, EXIT. Following the allegations the festival cut ties with the artist stating to Rolling Stone that, "EXIT has always been more than a music festival, promoting the values of peace, love and tolerance among young people – values that our region desperately needed.”
