Reuben Kaye, Ali McGregor Among First 2021 Green Room Awards Nominees

The first batch of 2021 Green Room Awards nominees have been unveiled.

Held annually, the Melbourne-based awards recognise the best in live performance and production across mediums including dance, contemporary theatre, opera and much more, with the cabaret nominees revealed today.

The list includes cabaret stalwart Ali McGregor, Melbourne musical comedian Lou Wall, and burlesque legend Maude Davey.

Also featuring is performer extraordinaire Reuben Kaye for his online series Un-Wine-D In Isolation With Ruben Kaye, with the 2021 event the first year to feature nominees whose work was published online during 2020.

Kaye went viral this year after his debut at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala, and received rave reviews for his show, The Butch Is Back.

This year sees the awards themselves do things a little differently as well; taking place entirely online for the first time, the proceedings will go ahead under Art Deco 2021 - set to take place Monday, 28 June.
