A big night for local music.
Some of the best acts, albums, songs and musicians Victoria has to offer took the spotlight tonight as part of the 2020 Music Victoria Awards.
The 16th annual event was live-streamed from Melbourne Recital Centre, with seven public-voted winners and 14 industry-voted winners announced, including Sampa The Great, who won Best Album, Best Solo Artist, Best Soul, Funk, Gospel or RnB Album and Best Song, the latter of which was accompanied by a $3000 cash from APRA AMCOS.
Rockers Amyl & The Sniffers were awarded Best Band and Best Live Act with vocalist Amy Taylor named Best Musician, while Kee’ahn picked up the coveted Archie Roach Foundation Award for Emerging Talent, Paul Kelly inducted the late Chris Wilson into the Music Victoria Hall Of Fame and more.
The evening also featured performances from Alice Skye, Elizabeth, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever and Simona Castricum.
