Casey Barnes, Busby Marou & More Win Big At The 2020 Gold Coast Music Awards

The 2020 live-streamed edition of the Gold Coast Music Awards were a huge success, with thousands tuning in last night and some surprise guests treating viewers.

The awards ceremony once again shined a light on some of the best talent the Gold Coast has to offer, with local country legend Casey Barnes taking out the coveted Art of the Year award, while Busby Marou won Release of the Year for The Great Divide and Eliza & The Delusionals scored Breakout Artist.

“Absolutely blown away to win Artist of The Year,” Barnes said. “It’s definitely been a pretty special last week or so. Extremely humbled and extra special when it’s in your own back yard. Was an amazing night to be part of! Extremely proud to be a Gold Coaster.”

Meanwhile, singer-songwriter DENNIS was awarded the Gold Coast Music Prize and its accompanying 12-month career development package that includes management advice, PR, video production, media support and more.

Special guests across the event included Tones & I, Amy Shark, Sophie Monk, Tommy Emmanuel and Michael Chugg.

“The music talent here on the Gold Coast continues to be of the highest standard and I congratulate all of this year’s winners,” Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate said.

“I have no doubt the industry here on the Gold Coast will bounce back stronger than ever and after the restrictions have eased, I look forward to hearing them once again play their music at venues across the city.”
