APRA AMCOS has today announced the winners of the 2017 APRA Professional Development Awards, with 66% of the victors made up of female artists.
Some of Australia's current buzz acts took out awards today including Julia Jacklin, Ainslie Wills, Sophie Payten (Gordi), Fanny Lumsden and Nick Drabble (Set Mo).

All of the winners will share a $135,000 cash prize pool.
Meanwhile, composer and poet Eric Avery has been named as the recipient of the Indigenous Music & Media Award from the Smugglers Of Light; a foundation set up in memory of Eli Westlake who was tragically killed in Sydney in 2008 at the age of 21.
Avery today received a $12,000 grant presented by renowned composer and conductor, Nigel Westlake.
