Are you keen for mainstays of the Aussie indie music scene to impart their industry wisdom upon you?

If so, then The Riddoch Arts & Cultural Centre in Berrin/Mount Gambier will be the place to be on Thursday, May 22nd.

A special event proudly presented by Music SA and The City of Mount Gambier will see Montaigne and Anty and Ollie from The Bennies delivering a free chat about building a career in indie music. According to the official event description, the artists will be “sharing their journeys, challenges, and triumphs, helping you navigate the industry while staying true to your art.”

Both Montaigne and The Bennies have acted as major stalwarts of the Australian music industry.

Montaigne’s debut album, Glorious Heights, was released in August 2016 and peaked at No. 4 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The musician subsequently won Breakthrough Artist – Release for the album at the 2016 ARIA Awards and received nominations in three other categories. They then went on to represent Australia in the 2021 edition of the celebrated Eurovision Song Contest. Who better is there to fill in aspiring musicians on the highs and lows of the industry?

The Bennies have described themselves as "psychedelic reggae ska doom metal punk rock from Hell.” They have released four studio albums and two EPs, and are celebrated for their electrifying shows. Anty and Ollie from the band will be sure to have much to relay to the music-loving public on the night.

The event will kick off this Thursday at 5:30 pm (though doors officially open at 5:15).

Though the event is free, RSVP-ing at the link here is still required in order to attend.
