Ticketing giant TEG has issued a statement in response to claims of a “toxic workplace culture” that had allegedly been overlooked by members of senior management.

According to an article published by the Australian Financial Review, a former staff member alleged to the publication that individuals in senior management roles had “created a culture of fear” within the organisation. This included claims of bullying towards staff members, and “displaying volatile tempers”.

The unnamed source claims that the behaviour from TEG staff members also included “aggressive late-night Slack messages” and “humiliating public critiques”, resulting in some employees allegedly experiencing issues relating to their mental health.

No specific members of TEG’s senior management or board were named or accused of the behaviour listed in the original article.

Additionally, the former staff member claimed that senior management had dismissed any reports of bad behaviour, labelling any complaints to be “overreactions”, and alleging that the company’s human resources department had “buried two claims of bullying and harassment”. The article also stated that the TEG board had not acted upon reports of the behaviour after being made aware of it.

In a statement shared to TheMusic, TEG claimed they would be investigating the allegations that have been made, while outlining their approach to poor behaviour within the company.

“There is no place for, bullying, harassment or misconduct at TEG,” the statement read. “We do not have the details of the allegations made at this stage, however, we treat these matters extremely seriously and remain committed to investigating all allegations.

“We have formal processes in place to investigate any allegation of workplace misconduct, including by external support.

“In addition, TEG has an open-door policy that encourages employees to share any concerns they have,” it continued. “We remain focused on creating a positive and respectful workplace for all.”

Though not inferred to be related, news of the allegations against TEG's senior management come just under two weeks since it was reported that CEO Geoff Jones would be stepping back from the role he has held since 2011 to take on an executive chairman role.

It's unclear who will take over Jones' role, though the AFR has reported that former Woolworths chief executive Brad Banducci, and TEG chief operating officer Cameron Hoy are both in consideration.
