Simon Cahill – a key figure in the organisation of SXSW Sydney – has been named the newest Head Of Commercial for the TEG Group.
Cahill will remain onboard the team behind the first international expansion of South By Southwest – since the start of 2023, he’s worked with the SXSW crew as the Head of Marketing and Commercial Partnerships for the Sydney edition – with his new role at TEG making him responsible for all of the company’s commercial activity.
A press release notes that he’ll work with all of its businesses (which includes Handsome Tours, MJR Presents and Empire Touring, as well as the annual Laneway festival, Nice Events and more) to “identify and drive growth opportunities globally”.
Cahill will work from TEG’s Sydney office, reporting to CEO Geoff Jones. In a formal statement, Jones said he and the company are “delighted to welcome Simon Cahill into this vital role as we continue to grow the business and deliver exceptional partnerships through live experiences by connecting brands with consumers and generating [return on investment]”.
Jones went on to praise Cahill’s prior achievements, adding: “Simon has done a tremendous job at SXSW Sydney and his expertise and drive make him a perfect fit for this new role and a great addition to the Senior Leadership Team.”
In a statement of his own, Cahill said he’s “excited to further immerse myself across the TEG Group”, which he described as “a powerhouse in the live entertainment game”. He further expounded: “TEG is currently in an exciting time of growth both locally and globally and I look forward to seizing these opportunities for clients through world-class partnerships.
