Public voting has just opened for this year’s South Australian Music Awards, allowing everyday punters to vote for their favourite acts across the state.

The 2025 South Australian Music Awards will take place at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, 28 October, in a celebration of the best of the state’s contemporary music scenes. This year’s awards also commemorate the tenth anniversary of Adelaide being named Australia’s only UNESCO City of Music.

The SA Music Awards recognise, promote, and celebrate excellence in the state’s music community, and voting is now open for the People’s Choice Awards.

With over 600 artists nominated, fans can vote for and support their favourite South Australian artists and bands across twelve categories, including Blues & Roots, Country, Electronic, Art Music, Folk, Heavy Metal, Hip Hop, Jazz, Pop, Punk, Rock, and Soul/Funk/R’n’B.

Voting in the People’s Choice Awards closes at midnight on Monday, 22 September. You can submit your vote here.

In addition to public voting opening today, tickets are now available to attend the award ceremony. Early Bird tickets are available now for $50 plus a booking fee, and if punters want a little something extra, they can purchase Early Bird tickets with access to the ceremony’s VIP Function for $100 plus a booking fee.

In a statement, Music SA CEO, Christine Schloithe, said of this year’s event: “Every year the Awards shine a spotlight on the extraordinary creativity and talent we have here in South Australia. With a new venue this year and excitement already building, the 2025 Awards are shaping up to be a truly unmissable celebration of our music community.”

Last year’s South Australian Music Awards were dominated by singer-songwriter aleksiah, who swept the night with four wins.

Taking home the wins for Best New Artist, Best Solo Artist, the Emily Burrows Award (presented by APRA AMCOS) and the award for Most Popular Pop Artist, aleksiah wasn’t the only one who dominated throughout the night.

Other South Australian favourites, such as Swapmeet and Teenage Joans, took home two awards each. Swapmeet won the coveted Best Song award (for Ceiling Fan) as well as Best Release (for their album Oxalis), while Teenage Joans snapped up Best Group and Most Popular Punk Artist.

In other big categories, Electric Fields were crowned Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Artist, and DEM MOB received the award for Best Regional Artist.
