BACKGROUND CHECK:

The isolated nature of Fremantle has historically left it somewhat disconnected from its eastern contemporaries, but that hasn’t stopped someone like Jodie Regan from becoming one of the most notable management figures in the country.

Having kicked off a musical career by running the music venue The Norfolk Basement, exposure to booking and promotion led to a pivot to artist management, which brought the launch of Spinning Top Music in 2007.

Alongside an international expansion, the launch of Spinning Top Records, and the collection of a string of exceptional, genre-diverse artists such as Pond, Haiku Hands, Chela, and Tame Impala, Spinning Top and Regan have continued to thrive, with its founder even taking home the Legacy Award at the 2024 AAM Awards.

THE YEAR IN AUSTRALIAN MUSIC:

While just about all of the artists on Spinning Top’s roster have been busy in some capacity over the past year, it’s difficult to look past the big year that Tame Impala has had, and therefore, Regan has had as well. Having kicked off 2025 with Tame Impala's first Grammy win as part of the Justice collaboration Neverender, things have since snowballed with Kevin Parker’s return to the world by way of fifth album Deadbeat.

Add in tour dates throughout the globe, nominations for the ARIAs, another Grammy nomination, and a strong chance that Deadbeat is on track to be one of the biggest local releases of the year, and it’s hard to think of anyone who has had a busier year managing an Aussie artist than Regan.

THE MUSIC SPEAKS:

The power in Jodie Regan’s impressive career comes in the kind of careers she’s managed to carve out for her artists. Tapped into the needs, both commercial and artistic, of her artists, Regan has created careers that match the holistic goals of her artists, not just the financial ones. And in doing so, she has proven that an artist like Tame Impala can do both.

She’s also, importantly, the person on other managers’ lips when you ask about mentors or those in the industry willing to share advice and provide guidance.
