Australian musician Nathan Cavaleri is giving back.
Having recently recounted his experiences of bullying, anxiety, and depression growing up in the spotlight, Cavaleri is launching an online course he himself wishes he had access to when he started his music career. It’s called Beyond Fear and Anxiety, and Cavaleri has just finished writing the first course.
“If you told me 10 years ago when I was shaking in a corner with anxiety that I’d be writing an online course on getting ‘Beyond Fear and Anxiety,’ I’d have laughed in your face,” he explained on social media this week.
“Today I wrote the last line of the first course. What a profound feeling… To those doing it tough, you are never stuck. Just as change can take you to struggle town, it can also get you out. Link in bio for more info on the upcoming course.”
On his website, Cavaleri offered some more details about his mission behind the course.
“This course is the one I wished I had access to when I started out in music,” a message on his website states. “Not because it’s only for beginners, but because it would have prevented some of my darkest moments and saved me from facing my shape-shifting demons time and time again.”

Outlining some of the debilitating experiences related to anxiety, such as heart palpitations, sweats, shortness of breath, nausea, brain fog, overstimulation, and other symptoms, Cavaleri asked the very reasonable question: “And we’re supposed to step up and perform at our best in this state????”
He added, “The mental health stats for the music industry are dark, but why are we surprised? The world is not short of vocal trainers, songwriting courses, guitar tutors, and music business management degrees. But where’s the education on how to manage our own physiology and psychology throughout our musical journey?”
Cavaleri’s aim with the course is to share his experiences and lessons he’s been taught on his quest for self-understanding. “With this, you’ll get everything you need to not only feel grounded, secure, and strong enough to shine on stage despite the circumstances, but to fully relish and bask in one of life’s most unique highs—performance,” he shared.

Earlier this year, Cavaleri performed at the Cronulla Jazz & Blues Festival. In late 2024, he was named an ambassador of Ausmusic T-Shirt Day alongside Missy Higgins, Tony Armstrong, Ayesha Madon, and many others.
In mid-2023, Cavaleri unveiled a track-by-track of his EP, Miracles, with Pilerats – you can check out the in-depth discussion here.
