Ahead of this year’s Indie-Con and Indie Week industry conferences, the Victorian Music Development Office (VMDO) and the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR) have joined forces to support independent labels looking to attend the events.
Together, the two organisations will throw their support behind five Victorian-based independent record labels to attend the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) Indie Week and AIR’s Indie-Con conferences and awards in Adelaide from Wednesday, 30 July, to Friday, 1 August.
By attending, the labels will have the opportunity to connect with fellow independent labels in Australia, expand their reach, and build new markets.
The VMDO will provide up to five successful applicants with $1,500 (excluding GST) in funding per person to assist in their attendance. The bursary exists to help indies access a reduced-price ticket to the industry events, courtesy of AIR, plus a return flight to Adelaide and accommodation for three nights.
Here’s what local indies need to know:
Any independent record label that’s based in Victoria is eligible to apply for funding from the VMDO and AIR. Applications are now open and will close at 5 pm on Monday, 7 July, with the successful applicants scheduled to be informed of their bursary on Tuesday, 8 July.
