Just weeks after the first speakers for this year’s Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR)’s Indie-Con Australia Conference and A2IM’s Indie Week Australian Edition were announced, the full programs for both events were revealed today.
Returning to Adelaide—Australia’s only UNESCO-designated City of Music—from Wednesday, 30 July, to Friday, 1 August, the programs will feature 24 sessions across a mix of panels, workshops, and one-on-one meetings. Plus, they’ll contain over 90 speakers, including global music industry experts, label representatives, independent artists, journalists, and representatives from more than 70 companies.
Along with the already announced A2IM representatives Dr. Richard James Burgess, MBE (President and CEO) and Lisa Hresko (General Manager), Hopeless Records’ Ian Harrison, Rough Trade’s Melanie Sheehan, Secretly’s Anna Bond and Ali Murphy, and others, today’s announcement comes with a stacked list of Indie Week discussion topics.
During this year’s Indie Week Australian Edition, the teams will explore Global Growth, The Back Catalogue Blueprint, and Deal Making in the Age of AI. There will also be unmissable events such as a keynote speech with Jody Whelan (Oh Boy Records) and an in-conversation with Dr. Richard James Burgess.
The Indie-Con Conference is just as impressive, featuring speakers from Mushroom Music AU and NZ, Flying Nun Records, Handsome Tours, Support Act, The Annex, Sound Merch, ABC Music, Remote Control Records, Concord, Media Arts Lawyers, YouTube, Spotify, Amazon, APRA AMCOS, ARIA, PPCA, Sounds Australia, and more.
The topics are thrilling, too, touching on touring, fan development, the future of physical media, Case Studies on Emily Wurramara and Sycco, workshops, and more. This year’s Indie-Con Conference will conclude with a Music Industry Debate and closing drinks before launching into MusicSA’s Scouted program, showcasing emerging and unsigned talent across South Australia.

A2IM President and CEO Dr. Richard James Burgess, MBE, said of the program coming to Australia, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be launching our first-ever international Indie Week in collaboration with AIR Australia.
“This marks a major milestone for A2IM and the global independent community. We’re deeply grateful to Maria Amato and the entire AIR team for their partnership and to the South Australian Government for their visionary support. Adelaide will be a vibrant stage for the kind of cross-border connection, innovation, and celebration that defines our sector.”
Earlier this month, AIR CEO Maria Amato said of the forthcoming events, “We look forward to welcoming speakers from around the globe to connect with the Australian independent recorded music community, discuss issues that affect our industry and explore opportunities for global growth.”
