Australian music industry legend Mick Mazzone passed away earlier this month, and over the weekend, details of his memorial service were announced.

The memorial service to celebrate Mazzone will take place at Hickinbotham Hall, National Wine Centre, located on the corner of Hackney and Botanic Roads in Adelaide. The service will happen next Monday, 5 May, commencing at 11 am local time.

Those who plan to attend can register their interest here. For those unable to attend but still want to be part of the service, you can watch the livestream here. You can also send a message to the family here.

As Mazzone was a passionate supporter of music, his family urge attendees to share their passion for music by wearing their favourite band or concert merchandise to the service. Rather than send flowers, his family also note that they would appreciate memorial donations to go to The Crew Fund (Support Act and Crew). Donations can also be made at the service.

“Mick was the cornerstone of our family,” Mazzone’s family wrote in a statement. “He leaves behind a lifetime of happy memories that we will carry with us and cherish always.”

Mazzone took on the role of Hoodoo Gurus manager in February 2024 after Michael McMartin (of Melody Management) announced he would be stepping down from the position after 41 years. McMartin himself would pass away in March 2024 following a lengthy illness.

Mazzone had previously served as the band’s tour manager and had also maintained a close friendship with the band and McMartin for 30 years.

In addition to his time with the Hoodoo Gurus, Mazzone worked with names such as Bon Jovi, Madonna, Billy Joel, and R.E.M. He also served as a founding member of the Music Managers Forum and was both a founder and trustee of the music industry charity the Golden Stave Foundation.
