What?

‘She Makes Noise’ is a chance to celebrate the diversity of music being made by women in Melbourne. In one evening, you will hear five artists tell their unique stories through the music genre they have devoted their career to.

Melbourne has one of the most vibrant up and coming music scenes in Australia and there are incredible women making incredible music as part of that. ‘She Makes Noise’ is a chance for our women/fem presenting people to be at the fore-front; telling their stories, supporting each other and showcasing how good they really are.

Set on the Bergy Bandroom stage in Brunswick, October 30th will take you through five different genres, for a night you will never forget.

Mellowing -

Mellowing is a dynamic four-piece project that brings forward gender-diverse voices in an ever evolving scene. An eclectic mix of Midwest Emo and Mathrock, Mellowing is not afraid to experiment, confront, or expand on our preconceptions of these genres. Mellowing’s music breathes in a way that feels familiar and haunting, all at the same time.

Sadie Mustoe -

Sadie Mustoe, a contemporary pop-indie-folk storyteller delivers twisting melodies that draw audiences into a world of magical realism. The Queenscliff Music Festival’s ‘Foot-in-the-Door’ 2022 winner, Sadie, creates something organic that could be the soundtrack for any modern fantasy story; full of colour, epic sounds and evocative lyrics.

MEGHNA -

MEGHNA is fast becoming one of Australia’s most distinct and danceable new voices. Her smokey alto vocals glide across genre-defying alt-electronic pop, where glitchy trap beats and hypnotic synths meet hip-hop swagger to explore complex emotional themes. A Tamil-Bengali human rights lawyer-in-the-making, Meghna uses music to illuminate the joys of humanhood and confront its deeper flaws.APOLLINE - AFMA Youth Artists of the Year 2024, Apolline is a lively trio of young folkies combining fiddle, cello, double bass and an extensive collection of colourful socks. The group views folk music through fresh eyes with foot-stomping sets and original songs to bring a unique experience of genre-bending folk.ALISYA RAE - Naarm/Melbourne based and internationally raised, Alisya Rae [a-lee-sha ray] is in a lane of her own creating soul-driven R&B paired with her smooth, nostalgic vocals. After years abroad in London, Qatar, the Netherlands and Texas, she returns to her birthplace, determined to bring her unique sound to the Australian music scene. Highly active in the Melbourne gig scene, Alisya and her band have graced the stages of numerous local venues such as the Nightcat and the Espy Gershwin Bandroom. Though her roots are in classical training, her songwriting leans towards the likes of H.E.R, Amy Winehouse and Yebba. Alisya reflects on heartbreak with an empowering edge through driving beats and soulful melodies, sung by her “big vocal range that demands attention and once that chorus kicks in, you’ll be dancing/singing like your soul depends on it” (Claire Mooney, Triple J).

Alongside the five performances, there will be extra creatives to keep you entertained.
