HOBSONS BAY COAST GUARD - 'WEATHER REPORT' ALBUM LAUNCH

Since their formation in 2017, Hobsons Bay Coast Guard has been at the forefront of genre-bending in Melbourne’s DIY scene, skillfully navigating the seas of psychedelic surf, punk, and experimental pop. Their uncompromising self-produced catalog reflects their dedication to their craft, capturing the creative energy and innovation that defines their sound.

With their latest record, Weather Report released via Cheersquad Records, the DIY explorers have collated their hard-won experience into their most mature yet lighthearted offering yet. 14 tracks spanning surf-rock, punk, weirdo-pop and their own brand of creative mayhem exploring humanity’s relationship to the mega-natural.

As the environment crumbles around us by our own hands, the earth answers with storms, quakes, floods and eruptions, each cataclysm a reminder of our small place in the universe and simultaneously our huge responsibility to our ecosystem. Every song on the record reflects some part of that contradiction. Natural disasters as metaphors for love, loss, relationship and the relentless passage of time.

For their special hometown show, the band will be joined by garage pop aficionados Rhysics (warming up for their Meredith debut just a week later) and groovy pop sweeties, Polly and the Pockets.
