For more than fifteen years, UK protest singer Grace Petrie has been one of contemporary folk music’s most urgent and compelling voices, blending razor-sharp political songwriting with warmth, wit and unwavering conviction. Emerging from the UK folk scene during the coalition government years, Petrie quickly built a devoted following through songs that balance righteous anger with humour, hope and solidarity.
Often compared to Billy Bragg for her fearless lyricism and passionate live performances, Petrie has toured extensively throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada, selling out shows across Australia and New Zealand since her debut tour here in 2020. Her breakout anthem Black Tie has surpassed 1.5 million streams worldwide, becoming a powerful song of queer identity and self-expression embraced by fans around the globe.
Alongside headline tours, Grace has shared stages with artists including Billy Bragg, Frank Turner and Hannah Gadsby, appeared on BBC Radio 2, Sky Arts and Channel 4, and become a regular favourite on The Guilty Feminist podcast. Her acclaimed 2024 album Build Something Better, produced by Frank Turner, topped the UK folk charts and cemented her reputation as one of Britain’s most respected independent artists. In 2027, Petrie returns exploring the stripped back power of folk song writing once again.Venue information The Theatre Royal strives to be an accessible and inclusive venue.
