** FREE ENTRY // FRONT BAR // 6:30-8:30PM **Guitarist Nash Lee began his musical journey on the NSW North Coast in the mid–late ’90s, mentored by rhythmic innovator Greg Sheehan and guitarist Jim Kelly. Early inspiration from Eric dolphy, James blood ulmer, Mahavishnu orchestra and Miles Davis’s electric era helped shape Lee’s distinctive, exploratory guitar voice.
After a long path in original improvised music, Lee has recently turned his focus toward the jazz standard repertoire — refining his sound inside the tradition while keeping his adventurous edge.
Critic John Clare (SIMA) wrote that “Lee’s playing gripped me… tightening his lyrical sound until he seemed to meet resistance in the air.”
