More Eskimo Joe More Eskimo Joe

Yesterday’s Gone is the ultimate tribute band to Fleetwood Mac. The Australian outfit, comprising Eskimo Joe vocalist Kav Temperley, indie rock singer-songwriter Charlie Collins, country star Fanny Lumsden, and beloved artist Karen Lee Andrews, draw their name from the 1977 hit, Don’t Stop.

This September, Yesterday’s Gone – The Fleetwood Mac Legacy will honour the legends with a special show for Night At The Barracks in Sydney. The group provided one of the stand-out shows of the 2023 Night At The Barracks series, and return following a successful national tour.

For this show, the group of singer-songwriters will be accompanied by some of Australia’s finest musicians to perform the greatest hits of our lifetime, such as Dreams, Landslide, The Chain, Rhiannon, Go Your Own Way, Everywhere, Little Lies, and many more.

To celebrate their return to Night At The Barracks, Kav Temperley, Charlie Collins, Fanny Lumsden, and Karen Lee Andrews have revealed their favourite Fleetwood Mac deep cuts for The Music. Check out what they have to say about the iconic band below.

Kav Temperley (Eskimo Joe):

I think Albatross is such a special song. It sits outside the late ‘70s and early ‘80s Fleetwood Mac era, but it really showcases their DNA as a working blues band in the early ‘70s.

I also get to perform Big Love in the set, which was a single from Tango In The Night, part of their late ‘80s period. The album version is great, but Lindsey Buckingham’s solo live performance is just next level, this insane display of acoustic virtuosity where he’s somehow playing five parts at once and singing. Ridiculous!

Fanny Lumsden:

Mine is Rhiannon - I love it, one because it’s such a banging song, and I love performing it, but two because I love the story behind it. Stevie [Nicks] wrote it originally about what she thought was a Welsh Witch, but after it came out, a fan sent her information informing her that she was actually a Goddess, and I simply love how well that fits into so many scenarios. Women accused of being Witches but all along they were really Goddesses bestowing love and power.

The second one I love the most is Landslide. I love it because it was the reason I discovered Fleetwood Mac via The Chicks’ version in the early 2010s. It’s got such a beautiful melody and imagery. I get to sing it really stripped back in the show, and it’s a true pleasure to sing.

Charlie Collins:

Silver Spring is one of my favourite songs of all time. Musically and lyrically, it hits hard for me. The pain and heartbreak in this song ruins me each time I sing it because I can almost feel what Stevie felt at the time of writing it.

As Long As You Follow is a song my Mum always used to sing when I was a little girl, so it reminds me of that time. I recently went through some rough life sh*t and this song in particular helped me get through it. It gave me hope and strength to push through and see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Karen Lee Andrews:

My favourites are Songbird and, though it’s not technically a Fleetwood Mac song, my favourite Stevie song from our show is Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around. Even though the songs by Fleetwood Mac were specific to their own relationships, everyone could relate to them. Falling in love, betrayal and heartbreak.
