Melbourne's I'lls (Solitaire / Good Manners) have been slowly making a pretty solid mark on the Australian music landscape with their incredible ethereal electronic soundscapes, having racked up supports for XXYYXX, Chet Faker, Flume, and PVT in the past. If really beautiful, electronic music appeals to you, you should definitely give these guys a go - their 2013 track Plans Only Drawn, below, is a good place to start:
I'lls have just released a video clip for their latest track Fifty-Phiphti. Directed by the band’s own Hamish Mitchell, along with a team of cinematographers and colourists, features the shadows of people casually dancing against changing digital and analogue backdrops of colours and patterns, their movements out of sync with the beat. It’s a strange but compellingly beautiful few minutes. The track itself, which was released late last year as a split with B-side Asakusa, travels with more of a solid groove, in contrast to previous singles, Fifty-Phiphti is layered and complex where tracks such as Speak Low were lush and spacious.
