GLGL is the project of vocalist Ella Thompson and Graeme Pogson, and last year they won a small chunk of the music community over with their sweet EP, Love Hexagon. This cosmic synth duo, out of Melbourne, have returned with a bright and funky single called Number One, which has a very enjoyable video clip to go with it. Speaking about the video clip, GL said they “wanted to make something that had a slightly surreal narrative, colour and movement are very much a part of the story… I felt like we were in some sort of Edward Scissorhands suburbia”.
Directed by Annelise Hicky, this semi-retro, semi-now clip captures a colourful and awkwardly sexual glimpse into Aussie suburbia. It's not number 1 on the charts yet, but the clip does serious justice to modernist disco-pop at its glittering best.
