Lovable Chicago rascal Chance the Rapper is currently holed up with musician Donnie Trumpet (who plays in Chance's live band, the Social Experiment, and whose real name is Nico Segal), working on a joint album called Surf. Segal and Chance have been touring the world of late, playing Chance songs and developing new material as The Social Experiment. Peter Cottontale (production), Nate Fox (drums) and a bunch of Chicago instrumentalists and singers, round out the group. THE FADER did a top-notch cover story on The Social Experiment recently if you're keen to find out more about the project.
Late last year, we heard the uplifting, jazzy number Sunday Candy, which featured singer Jamila Woods on chorus. Today, the clip gets a video, that's very West Side Story in vein, as Chance dons a varsity jacket and suspenders and, together with Woods, plays out a narrative in a 50s style soda shop (shoppe?) laden with many musical theatre nods and some group dance choreography, proper. The video was directed by Austin Vesely, who made the video for Chance's Everybody's Something back in 2013 and has worked on a number of promos with the rapper. Get ready for an uplifting interlude to your Monday:
