'One year I ate unclaimed award cake. I was working backstage... And look at me now.'

Answered by: Odette Mercy, frontwoman.

Short description of your band and music: Soul.

Best WAM-related story? One year I ate unclaimed award cake. I was working backstage... And look at me now. Haha.

What do you think separates the WA music scene apart from the rest of the country? Collaboration and community. People are getting together and collaborating from across genres. It's a pretty positive community of musos to be involved within.

What WA bands are you vibing on right and why? Ben Witt, Hyclass, The Wilds, The Witches, Tobacco Rat and Flooded Palace.

Why should people come and see you from amongst the many cool bands at WAM? I think people should just see as many bands as they can. Seriously, it's been a massive year for WA music and this weekend gives you everything on a silver platter. We're stoked to play on a bill with such a killer line-up in one of WA best outdoor venues. And if I really have to answer the question - we love what we do and we do it well.

What's on the horizon for you? We have a couple more singles to release before the album. And a couple of tours over east which should be a whole lot of fun.

WAM Festival performance: Sunday Best - Fremantle Arts Centre, 8 Nov, 2-8pm.
