More Omar Musa More Omar Musa

Lauded Queanbeyan-born author, poet and rapper Omar Musa has had a blinder of a year so far, and it's not set to stop for any reason other than the imminent changeover of the calendar.

Just a couple of months ago, the award-winning creative signed with Sydney label Big Village ahead of the release of August's excellent EP Dead Centre, and now he's following up that burst of activity with a new clip for the work's title track as well as the news that he will be supporting hip hop outfit Horrorshow on their upcoming tour, joining previously announced opener B-Wise on the bill.

Premiering on theMusic.com.au today, the clip was directed by renowned music photographer (and frequent The Music contributor) Cole Bennetts, with editing by Vis Pajori and production by Joelistics. The vibrant, stylishly filmed video was shot on location in Penang and Rimbun Dahan, Malaysia, and mixes imagery of the lyrical mastermind dropping the song's emotive rhymes — the clip positions Musa against the starkly different backdrops of a minimalist, non-descript white space and the comparatively chaotic surrounds of a cramped trinkets store — with sights of everyday, street-level life in the south-east Asian country.

Horrorshow's tour gets under way in just a couple of weeks' time at Canberra's Transit Bar. For a full list of venues, dates and other booking details, see theGuide.
