The clip was filmed in Australia by the Brisbane songwriter and Ailish Flynn, as well as in Bavaria by German videographer Alishia Wagner.
"After a few months of trying to work out how to share the footage (I’m not kidding, technology is not my strong point) I started working on putting the video together," Wilson told The Music.
"This was all happening when the lockdown restrictions were at their peak so it felt pretty fitting to be working online collaborating with someone. I’m not a video maker by any means, but I did my best at taking all the footage and putting it together to make a cool video.
"I wasn’t fully sure how I would combine German and Australian landscapes, but I feel like it came together nicely in the end the imagery really fits the vibe of the song."
Runaway - which is "about opening yourself up and trusting those gut instincts that you have" - is the latest single to feature on Wilson's forthcoming debut album.
