Best Fly By Night Memory?

My fondest FBN memory was the Garage Kids Ball in 2006. It was an all-ages event put on by Phil Stevens and the Fly. The line-up included The Flairz, Spectrum, The Real Life Animators, The Watts, The Morning Night, Empty State and all of the bands were still in school. The reason it’s so special is because members of those bands would go on to form San Cisco, Rainy Day Women, Tim & Jean, Koi Child, just to name a few. Even then you could see the immense talent among the youngsters.

What separates Fly By Night apart from other venues?

The Fly is unique because it's not just a live music venue. We are a not-for-profit club with one of our objectives being to support and nurture local artists. The commercial side of what we do is to subsidise our community goals. As a venue, Victoria Hall is a beautiful old building from 1896 and the sound and atmosphere is fantastic.
