Which act are you paying tribute to and why? I'm pretty stoked to be paying tribute to the late Gil Scott-Heron. He's someone I've been intrigued by and finally have a reason to learn a bit more about!
What was his best period musically? In my opinion I really enjoyed his releases in his later years. His songs and lyrics seemed to go to another level.
Your favourite song of his and why? I'll Take Care Of You. Argh. This song gets to me every time. Ouch. Gil actually didn't write this song but the way he sings it just makes my eyeballs wanna melt.
Which album of his would you give to a newbie who had no idea about him to best represent him? I'm New Here - which was released in 2010 and was his last studio album. The tone of his voice is just ridiculous. Seriously. #totesridic
When and where is your gig giving him the nod? I'll be paying tribute to Gil Scott-Heron along with some of Australia's finest (Vince Jones, N'fa Jones and more!) at Chapel Off Chapel, 20 May.
