theMusic @ BIGSOUND: Marc Geiger (William Morris Endeavor)

He’s one of the most influential individuals in the music industry today, and for US juggernaut Marc Geiger, his career has early ties to Australia.

The keynote for the William Morris Endeavor head of music began with his introduction to the Australian music scene, which started when stumbled across The Church while working for the record store and radio station at his university in San Diego.

At 19, he looked them up, contacted their manager, Michael Chugg, and asked if he could manage them in the US.

From there, the “Australian music freak” went to work with The Go-Betweens, The Triffids and more in the ‘80s.

His BIGSOUND keynote discussed how the industry has evolved, why it’s better than in 2015 and what the future holds.

Files are dead. It’s all about streaming and vinyl – they will be the only survivors. Geiger offers up his predictions about streaming and more.
