Do any 2016 punk bands out there tell it as damn straight as PUP do? “I haven’t felt quite like myself, for months on end / I spend more nights on the floor, than in my own bed.” Writing relatable lyrics with the real feels is something these Toronto punks excel at - their latest track Doubts, premiered earlier today by Zane Lowe on Apple’s Beats 1, sees singer Stephen Babcock continue the self-slaughter he began in DVP – only this time it’s not the boozing, but a broken relationship, that's getting him down. Athough we're sure the two aren't mutually exclusive...

These guys are on one right now – three strong singles in three months, teamed with excellent and creative video clips (like the messed-up If This Tour Doesn’t Kill You, I Will clip, that we wrote about here, and the ’90s video-game-inspired lyric video for DVP). All signs are pointing towards their sophomore album, The Dream is Over, out late next month on SideOne Dummy Records, as being an absolute kicker.
