Which act made you want to pick up the guitar and why? I think it was a combination of Eric Clapton, 1927 and Craig McLachlan! I'd already been playing the organ so when I picked up a guitar and it made sense immediately.
What's your preferred guitar and amp set up? My German-made Nik Huber Rietbergen into a Two-Rock Classic Reverb Signature or my five-watt '60s Fender Vibro Champ.
What are you going to talk about/play at the Festival? I'll be performing solo at the festival. Predominantly playing my own instrumental material, which has a strong leaning toward groove jazz and blues. I'll be teaching some of my fingerstyle secrets for improving feels and improvisation at my workshop.
Are you planning to catch any of the other performances or workshops? If so, what are you hoping to get out of it? I have a show with Joe Robinson and Michael Fix - I haven't seen them play in a while. I'd love to catch Slava Grigoryan, I've been a fan for 20 years and never had the opportunity to hear him live.

What advice would you give to a beginner guitarist attending the Festival? Sit and listen and give your full attention! It's one thing to watch a video of someone play and a totally different experience to be in the same room. And ask questions!!
If you could play with any performer, who would it be and why? Bill Frisell - he's my favourite musician. I haven't met him, but his music and playing really seem to just be the extension of his personality.
When and where can we catch you at the Festival? 24 Aug, Leadbelly, with Joe Robinson & Michael Fix; 26 Aug, The Concourse, 12pm workshop - 4pm performance.
