STREAM: Regina Spektor 'What We Saw From the Cheap Seats'

Regina Spektor is back, crooning lovely songs over the top of sweet piano instrumentals. Her voice is gorgeous. Full stop.

REGINA SPEKTOR has a brand new album out and it’s a piece of indie-pop bliss. Her haunting vocals and piano instrumentals remain in tact. We here at PURPLE SNEAKERS love our empowered female singers. We love hearing them belt out tracks and show us exactly how talented they are.

Spektor taps into the soul of femininity. She is the personification of petticoats and ribbon and tearing to shreds male oppression with her vivid and enticing vocals. Thumping piano combined with unexpected shifts into rock ‘n’ roll with loads of snare and grinding guitars shifts What We Saw From the Cheap Seats into gear.

We all want to be that quirky girl making noises with our mouths and dancing on tabletops. But we just can’t do it as well as Regina Spektor can. So why try? Pop never sounded this good.

Check it out over at NPR.

Words by Hannah Story.
