West Australian indie-pop trio Pacific are following up the release of their debut self-titled EP and first single Edge Of Nowhere with the bouncy, synth-driven sweetness of new cut Dawn.
The song comes in the wake of a self-described "interesting" year for the band, during which they juggled personal travails alongside their personal successes. Nonetheless, the sound coming forth in Dawn is one of a band that is swiftly growing comfortable with their own sound and each other as musicians, and bodes very well indeed for the emergent outfit's next chapter as they look to capitalise on their momentum in 2017.
“Outside the excitement of launching Pacific and releasing our debut EP, it was a very difficult year for most of us in our personal lives," the band's Callum Burne explained in a statement. "Having a creative outlet to assist us in navigating our way through some dark and hard times has been something we’ve come to really appreciate.
"We wanted this song to sound and feel different to anything we’ve written before," he continued. "Darkness is the absence of light, and I feel like it’s a place where we are stretched and refined. With dawn being the first appearance of light, it breathes change. We wanted to try and reflect this sentiment both musically and lyrically throughout the song."
