Soulful songstress Maja is bursting out of the Brisbane scene in which she's cut her teeth to win over the wider Australian audience, and her new single, Hurting Now, should go a long way towards helping her achieve just that.
Premiering with The Music today, the stunningly assured new cut showcases Maja's distinct and enchanting vocal style, underpinned by plinking piano lines, steady rhythms, emotive asides and an indelible sense of confidence that lifts the track to well-above-average heights.
Hurting Now benefits from the involvement of the multi-talented Konstantin Kersting (The Belligerents), who lent his refined touch as producer and mixer as the pair worked away at Maja's impending second EP, for which the new single is the very first taste.
It proves a most alluring follow-up to her self-titled debut EP, which was released at the end of March after she first reared her head with initial single Treat Me Right in June last year.
