"The chorus was written as two sides of your mind speaking to each other."
Lola Scott shares her brand new single Crowded Conscience, premiering on The Music.
The track comes from the NSW songwriter's digital double A side, The Night I Ran Away & Tried To Sleep At A Skate Park, which is set to drop next month.
"This song was written about my commitment issues and a habit of sometimes distancing myself when I get close to people," Scott told The Music.
"The chorus was written as two sides of your mind speaking to each other. I imagine it being like running towards someone but not getting closer to them & the feeling like when you are in a dream but you’re unable to speak or scream or make any noise.
"For me this could be about a struggle to express intimate emotions and then maybe you feel some progress but as soon as things get better you leave before they can get hard again."
