SINGLE PREMIERE: Kudos - Don't Love (ft. Georgia Rose)

Emergent Melbourne-based hip hop artist Kudos is proving himself a man with a work ethic that is both enviable and exhausting to watch, unveiling new single Don't Love today while in the midst of a tour in support of his previous release.

The overachieving wordsmith is presently on the road touting recent cut Plucker but, greedy beasts that we are, The Music is stoked to be premiering a new slice of Kudos' moreish rhymes, taken from his impending debut EP, Give.

The new tune, which boasts an ethereal guest appearance from golden-hearted Brisbane songstress Georgia Rose, is an aurally chilled-out but lyrically forceful and thoroughly gripping piece of work, intelligent and deliberate in its composition in the way that is becoming an evident and recurring motif with the Sunshine Coast-born rapper/spoken-word artist.

Such is his growing prowess that he has already picked up booking representation from the eagle-eared PS Music Group and landed support slots with names such as Atmosphere, Mantra and Afrika Bambaataa.

Along the way, he has earned a reputation for his dedicated, grassroots approach to his craft, frequently being spotted on the streets practicing his raps while jumping rope, an apparent technique to refine his timing. Beyond the music world — or in tandem with it, rather — he was even asked to present a poem at TedX Talks.

That all makes it fortunate, then, that Kudos isn't yet done with his current tour; with only a couple of dates to go, though (including an outing at the upcoming Jungle Love Festival outside Brissy), most of us will have to settle for getting as acquainted as possible through the new single and previous releases until the next chance rolls around to make a date with one of the country's most buzzworthy young artists.

Don't Love, featuring Georgia Rose, is out this Friday, 4 November, with the Give EP set to follow in January.
