“Life is way too short to play it safe."

The new track from WA artist JOSHUA “is about taking risks”.

“It’s about new beginnings,” he said of Jump, which premieres today via The Music.

“Life is way too short to play it safe, get to 80 and regret not chasing after what sets your heart on fire. It's about choosing to chase those dreams, no matter what, because they are what fuel you, they are what get you up in the morning.

“I had this epiphany this year, after working in education for six years, that I wasn’t doing that. I’d preach to my students that they should do whatever they love most, whatever it may be, but I wasn’t doing that for myself. I love music, I love songwriting and singing and artistry and everything that goes with it, so, I chose to leave my job, (and the stability and financial security that went with it) because this is what I want to do. It’s who I want to be.

“I love this song, I love how we made it. Working with MSQUARED (Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis) has been incredible (I had a big love of Michael Paynter’s Love The Fall back in the day), working over Zoom has been crazy and super fun and I can’t wait to show you what else my team and I have been working on.”

Jump is taken from JOSHUA’s forthcoming debut EP, set for release on April 16. Check it out above now ahead of its official release tomorrow.
