"The title reads Hold You Down but the song forever fights its own name," Davis told The Music.
"I started writing this song when I was 18... Seven years have passed and I've written several different versions and extensions, but some songs never want to be finished. I've captured it in this moment and I'm proud of that."
"The track explains the waves of emotions I felt when I had bottled up an old love and the unpredictable nature that come with losing your stability mixed with my inner demons clawing their way back to the surface."
