More Hideous Sun Demon More Hideous Sun Demon

West Australian psych-punks Hideous Sun Demon are about to set off for a significant string of shows around Australia and in New Zealand, preceding the run with their scorching new single, Idiotic Dream.

Proudly premiering on theMusic.com.au today, the song sprints along by way of urgent drums, fierce riffs and a punchy, sing/shout-along-worthy core that'll set heads nodding and fists pumping in kind from go to whoa. It's taken from their upcoming third album, which set for release in November or so on Hell Beach Records.

It's been a whirlwind four years since the band first came together and started turning heads through their energetic live shows and recordings, going on tour with the likes of Oh Sees (then Thee Oh Sees), The Meanies, The Peep Tempel, Dune Rats and The Murlocs, and have well and truly come of age as an exciting and unmissable band on their own level.

As if to cement the point, following in the footsteps of spiritual sound-mates King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (with whom they've also shared stages), the band launched their own two-night mini-fest back in April — Hideous Sun Demon's Party Rock Beauty Pageant — which featured almost 20 other local and national acts.

Now, they'll be on the road from next weekend throughout July, though they'll dip their toes in at Fremantle's J Shed this Saturday, 24 June, first.

After that, they're off to Melbourne, Brisbane and Hobart before a brief interlude in New Zealand, returning in late July to take on Perth and Adelaide.
