SINGLE PREMIERE: Childsaint - Used Up

Perth-bred alt-garage four-piece Childsaint have been a little bit quiet this year, but they're all ready to make it up to us with super-fresh new single Used Up, premiering today on theMusic.com.au.

In typically fuzzed-out, darkly dreamlike style, Used Up follows on from March release Hallelujah Heartache by exercising its quicksand-like pull to great effect; the band utilises relatively simple soundscapes with razor-sharp intelligence, dappling the scene with just enough reverb and ether to keep things infused with enough levity to float along through its effects-laden twists and turns. It suffices to say: it's meaty, it's purposeful and it's addictive as hell.

Both Used Up and its predecessor mark the main points of activity for the stalwart westerners in 2016; after a particularly busy previous couple of years, which included the release of their acclaimed debut EP Sick as well as appearing at the 2014 iteration of WAMFest, Childsaint took things a little more at their own pace this year.

However, that's not to say that they've been inert — and, either way, it's definitely a plan that's working for them, given the quality of the releases we've seen over the past several months. Hallelujah Heartache even saw them nominated for Best Single at this year's WAMAwards, while they also appeared at this year's RTRFM Radiothon event in August, supported Melb favourites Totally Mild and generally stayed busy through all manner of performances and projects.

Here's just hoping we see and hear even more from the band as we move along into the new year; to make sure you don't miss a beat, insofar as the algorithm doesn't hide their posts from you, give Childsaint some love on Facebook.

If you're in the area, the band will be launching Used Up at The Bird next Friday, 18 November, with support from Oosterbanger, PUCK and Shit Narnia.
