"Mark Opitz had a real passion to make sure we had the right energy or feel for each song."
The Casanovas are back with a brand new single, premiering with The Music today.
Dubbed Red Hot, the Melbourne group worked with legendary producer Mark Opitz (known for his work with acts like AC/DC, INXS, Divinyls, Cold Chisel and more) for the track.
"Mark Opitz had a real passion to make sure we had the right energy or feel for each song when we we were tracking live," explained bass player Damo Campbell.
"It was all about the passion we conveyed in the take, which was important to harness as a live rock band. This brought out the right energy in the band."
"For Red Hot I’d been listening to Free a lot and enjoying those big riffs that have heaps of space in between chords; that kind of tough, unhurried swagger," added frontman Tommy Boyce.
"Another thing I’ve always loved is the way in KISS’ King Of The Nighttime World the bass guitar drops out completely in the first verse…. I’ve used that in Red Hot too."
