Single title? Hyena

What’s the song about? Hyena is loosely based on the idea of friendship overcoming adversity, a tribe united by one voice.

How long did it take to write/record? The process itself has taken about a year from when the idea was planted to executing it in a studio.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? It’s the first part of a six-track EP named Omega which we’re still tinkering and laboring over at the moment, but will be available soon.

What was inspiring you during the song’s writing and recording? The main inspiration was a book titled The World In Six Songs by Dr Daniel J Levitin. Basically it breaks music down into six distinct human emotions that everybody can relate to, Hyena being Friendship.

We’ll like this song if we like... Nirvana getting in a knife fight with the Bee Gees while a bunch of old Greeks play in the background.

Do you play it differently live? The nice rough edges definitely come out more live.

When and where is your launch/next gig? The Hyena launch at The Toff In Town on Saturday 2 May with The Elliots and John Citizen. Tickets are $13 at the door and you get a gift.
