Single title? Satellite

What's the song about? The song is about getting the balance right on a musical, global and human level, and especially keeping your creative integrity.

How long did it take to write/record? This one started as a quirky two-tone-style drum loop with a baritone guitar, which actually made it to the finished single. One week to nail the essence then about a month for finishing touches.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? Satellite is the first single from our soon-to-be-released second album called Sierra-Kilo-Alpha. Very excited about the new trajectory for the Melbourne Ska Orchestra. We really want to be relevant and innovative with our genre.

What was inspiring you during the song's writing and recording? There was a real mission with the second album to push our boundaries and introduce new tastes and concepts. We especially focused on the multicultural diversity within the band. The floodgates literally opened up. Skavoovie!

We'll like this song if we like... A sense of positive energy, ramshackle happiness, justice, integrity, ska, dancing and Japanese food.

Do you play it differently live? We are still workshopping it but I think it will morph into an extended version with intergalactic stellar moon jumps by Dean Hilson, our saxophonist, mid-solo that is… He's good like that.

When and where is your launch/next gig? VIC: 16 Oct, The Prince.

NSW: 23 Oct, Metro Theatre
