"It was one of those songs which just wrote itself"

Single title? Flashing Lights
What’s the song about? Flashing Lights is about feeling the presence of lost loved ones. Little reminders that they’re watching over you.
How long did it take to write/record? It was one of those songs which just wrote itself. I walked onto my balcony one night, saw lights dimly flashing in the distance and the melody and lyrics came to me instantly.

Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? We’ve been in the studio recording a bunch of singles with Luke Bertoz (Tales In Space). We’re just releasing one track at a time but they might end up on an EP or album together.
What was inspiring you during the song’s writing and recording? We’ve been listening to loads of ‘90s guitar-pop and experimenting with retro guitar tones. It’s all about the melody for us and that era was great for melodic music – particularly female vocals.
We’ll like this song if we like... Metric, The Cardigans, The Sundays, Chvrches
Do you play it differently live? We stay pretty true to the recording but there’s always a different intensity when it’s live, particularly when you’re playing to an audience singing along.
