Single title? Oh, Valentine!
What’s the song about? Infatuation... with anyone/anything that makes your mum ask, ‘What’s the matter with you?’ at the dinner table.
How long did it take to write/record? The basic hooks/riffs just appeared one day. Went into the studio with the loops and recorded it as it came out. The rest just developed over a couple of wines.
Is this track from a forthcoming release/existing release? It is taken from my debut, Everything Is Calmer Underwater. Definitely the pop song of the album!
What was inspiring you during the song’s writing and recording? Pretty much every experience that has stuck with me. I don’t have a sad story like everyone seems to on some reality TV show, so I take inspiration from the simple things.
We’ll like this song if we like... QOTSA, Pixies, At The Drive-In, Foo Fighters. Music that makes you think you’re head is inside the drum kit... without the headache.
Do you play it differently live? Yes. Live I play in a two-piece with a loop station hooked up to multiple guitar/bass amps, vocal mics and a glockenspiel.
