The Garden is one of Perth’s biggest outdoor beer gardens, with more seating outdoors than indoors.
Formerly the Old Leederville Hotel Band Room, it underwent changes in 2009 to make way for The Garden. The style is eclectic, laid back, with décor incorporating steel, stone and wood, and the focus being on the outdoors.

Between executive chef Damien Young and head chef Alexander Thompson, The Garden boasts 37 years of collective culinary experience to share with its diners. The menu aims to be simple, Mediterranean and complementary to the Western Australian climate and local offerings. Crowd favourites include the steak sandwich, with pickled onion, Swiss cheese, tomato chutney and fries, or the slow cooked beef short rib with roasted field mushrooms and chimmichurri. For something different, try the crispy cider battered Red Emperor with fries and tartare, or the Texan pork sausage pizza with artichokes and black olives. For dessert, the orange blossom panna cotta with strawberries and pistachio crumble is a standout.
The Garden offers a mixture of craft beers rotating through the guest taps and local favourites on tap always. There’s surely something for all tastes and budgets here. Some names on offer are Squire varieties, Little Creatures and Mountain Goat.
Although wine changes seasonally as does the menu, Western and South Australian reds and whites are always well represented. The Garden also has a modest but punchy selection of signature vodka pitchers; the latest added to rotation is the Strawberry Mojito Pitcher.
The Garden will team up with Bill’s Bar And Bites for an NYE event, Soul Kingdom, which will showcase southern inspired food.
